Picture the scene. You’re on the slopes, you’re looking sharp in your salopettes and shades; you’re going to rule the black run. Then you whack someone over the head with your skis. Say goodbye to your piste cred. But rewind the scene, follow these few helpful tips and you’ll be master of the snow (well at least until you wipe-out in a deep drift).
Hold skis with the tips up and bases facing each other. Hook skis together by sliding the brake portions of the binding together.
To ensure skis hold fast, use Velcro or clasp-lock ski straps. Place straps on the top and bottom of both skis and fasten.
Ski poles can be stowed by looping straps between fastened skis and with another ski strap, secure them around the middle of skis.
Ensure no-one is behind you and swing skis, tips in front, onto one shoulder.
Rest skis against collarbone with the front of the binding right behind shoulder to secure them.
Carry skis with the tips pointed down, at a 30-45 degree angle.
Always be aware of people as you turn.
